Caravanning and camping are great ways to get out there and enjoy the full bounty nature has to offer you. But people often overlook one major part of nature when they plan their trips – the water! Australia is home to many gorgeous waterways, beaches and rivers where you can enjoy fishing, paddling, surfing, swimming, and just walking along to enjoy the view.
The Del Rio Riverside Resort is home to a wide range of activities for children to enjoy, from swimming and water skiing to barbeques, BMX riding, volleyball, 9-hole and putt-putt golf, tennis, netball and basketball, and even bush walking.
When you’ve finished with their swimming pool, you can walk along the waterfront and wash your clothes in the laundry facilities. Then relax in the spa, visit the restaurant, and play games in the games room. Del Rio even has accessible facilities.
Ready to make a splash? This pet-friendly camping site with a waterfront and water park is also home to a children’s playground. Stoney Park organises school holiday activities, especially at the Stoney Aqua Park and Aqua Golf. All accommodation types are pet-friendly, and some cabins feature ramps. The accessible toilet key is available at the front office.
Just 12 km from the beautiful Nambucca Heads and 5 km from Macksville, the Nambucca River Tourist Park offers so much more than just the Nambucca River views. You can enjoy the children’s playground, the pet-friendly cabins and sites for pets under 10kg, and the barbecues in the BBQ area.
You can walk or bike along the Nambucca River into Macksville for some brunch, or find entertainment in the local hotels or clubs.
5km north of Bermagui on the shores of Wallaga Lake, the BIG4 Wallaga Lake Holiday Park is the absolute in lake front family fun. The holiday park has its own private lake access, with a boat ramp and jetty. You can go water skiing, canoeing, boating, sailing and even try your hand at fishing!
If this wasn’t enough, Wallaga Lake also has a giant jumping pillow, ship-themed children’s playground, a full-sized tennis court, the opportunity to play Bocce, and pedal carts for full family fun.
The campsite is pet-friendly, though pets must remain on a short leash at all times within the park.
This EV-friendly campsite is also suitable for large motorhomes, with accessible facilities, a BBQ area, a camp kitchen, and pet-friendly sites. You can even splash about in Talbingo’s swimming pool, visit their kiosk and shop, and recycle and dump your waste at their dump point.
Surrounded by stunning natural bushland and featuring wide-open spaces and stunning water views, Sawtell Beach is loved by the whole family for its untouched beauty. It has a bush track that leads directly to a crystal-clear creek, and the Sawtell village is home to world-class cafes, boutique shops, idyllic beaches and a national park. What’s more, it’s only 15 minutes south of Coffs Harbour. The park also offers accessible facilities, including free entry to the Sawtell Swim Centre swimming pool, laundry, BMX pump track, pay TV, and dump point.
Enjoy the recuperative powers of Reflections Holiday Park. Just a short drive from Ballina and Byron Bay, al fresco dining and boutique specialty shops are just a stone’s throw away. But the Seven Mile Beach, with a challenging right-hand point break for surfers and a popular spot for fishing, is the real attraction. Bring along your kayak or stand-up paddleboard!
The park is suitable for large motorhomes and electric models. Activities include barbecues, lakefront access, direct beach access, school holiday activities, free indoor and outdoor games, and DVD hire. Dogs are permitted but must be kept on a leash and never left unattended in your accommodation.
For a unique and relaxing holiday, check out the Aloha Caravan Park. You can enjoy the pristine waters at St. George’s Basin with activities like fishing, swimming, boating and barbecues. Aloha also has laundry and waterfront facilities.
Norah Head Holiday Park has it all. Both Soldiers Beach and the historic Norah Head lighthouse are minutes away from the Central Coast-based camping site. Though the site has a resort-style swimming pool, jumping pillow, amphitheatre, free school holiday activities, sheltered barbecues, FOXTEL in all cabins, and more, you can also visit the many nearby Central Coast attractions and participate in local events. Pet-friendly sites and disabled facilities with wheelchair access are available on-site, but you must contact Park Management for further information.
