New South Wales is home to so many beautiful and exciting places. Let’s find out more about these must-visit stops!
Killick and Crescent Head stops
In the North Coast, you can visit Killick Beach, famous for its long surf break. Or, if you’d prefer something calmer, head to Killick Creek, a tidal creek ideal for paddleboarding. You can then check out the panoramic ocean views and seasonal whale watching at Crescent Head Lookout, or take Point Plomer’s rugged dirt-track drive to nearby peaceful beaches, or the Big Hill rainforest trail.
When you’ve finished your surfing and sightseeing, head to the Crescent Head Holiday Park to relax.
Urunga
If you like long walks with stunning beach views, check out Urunga Boardwalk, a magnificent 1.2km walk over the estuary where the Kalang and Bellinger Rivers meet up with the sea. Or, see more of the Bellinger River at the Waterfall Way Scenic Drive, which leads to the Dorrigo National Park and its amazing rainforest skywalk. Later, you can chill out at the Urunga Lido, a sheltered and safe swimming area.
Explore all these amazing places from the Reflections Urunga Holiday Park.
Angourie and Yamba
Angourie Blue Pool is a famous, scenic, deep-water swimming hole at the ocean’s edge. There’s the historical Yamba Lighthouse, with sweeping views of the coastline, as well as being a brilliant spot for whale watching. Then there’s Yamba Main Beach, a beach known for its relaxed surf culture.
When you’ve finished exploring these coastal views, pull in at the Calypso Yamba Holiday Park for a relaxing time.
Moonee
Crystal-clear Moonee Creek is a shallow estuary where people come to kayak, fish, and relax while the kids play, and Moonee Beach Nature Reserve is a prime spot for coastal walks and birdwatching alike.
After exploring Moonee’s stunning nature, you can head to Reflections Moonee Beach Holiday Park, which is dog-friendly during the off-season!
South Coast
Why not see the Grand Pacific Drive and drive over the Sea Cliff Bridge, suspended over the shimmering ocean? Or, get a bird’s eye view of the Wollongong coastline and Illawarra Escarpment at the Mount Keira Lookout. You could also take in the largest Buddhist temple in the Southern Hemisphere, the Fo Guang Shan Nan Tien Temple, located in Berkeley. And then there’s Lake Illawarra, next to Windang Beach, a great destination for windsurfing and boating.
At the end of your South Coast sightseeing, Corrimal Beach and Windang Beach have great tourist parks for you!
Toowoon
If you like beaches, you’ve got ample choice at Toowoon. On the doorstep of NRMA Toowoon Bay Holiday Park is Toowoon Bay Beach, a horseshoe-shaped bay with a protective outer reef that keeps the water exceptionally flat and calm, perfect for paddleboarding, snorkelling, and wading. Then there’s Shelly Beach, perfect for surfing, and Blue Bay and Little Bay, small inlets with vast rock pools to explore.
If you prefer parks and sightseeing, the Swadling Reserve, a massive green park, is directly opposite the holiday park. With elevated ocean views, a modern children’s playground. And covered public barbecue areas, you’ve got everything you need. Then you can check out the Tuggerah Lake estuary pathway and watch the marine wildlife rescue pelican feedings at the Entrance and Pelican Plaza. Then there are the beautiful bushwalking cliffside littoral rainforest trails of the Wyrrabalong National Park, where you can spot migrating whales!
When you get hungry, head to the local shopping strip for a burrito from Flour & CO. or something a little more upscale at Cecilia’s Restaurant & Wine Bar.
Central Coast
Tomaree Head presents a challenging yet rewarding hike, complete with views of Port Stephens and its offshore islands. Or, why not check out Stockton Beach, home to the largest shifting coastal sand dunes in the Southern Hemisphere? You can go on four-wheel drive tours here, or even try sandboarding!
Explore both these stunning coastal areas from Shoal Bay Holiday Park.
Jervis Bay and Hyams Beach
A 2.5-hour drive south of Sydney, Jervis Bay’s Hyams Beach has the whitest sand in the world. You can go for lovely coastal walks, try stand-up paddleboarding, or just enjoy swimming in the cool waters.
Stay at Holiday Haven White Sands Tourist Park for a nearby base. Alternatively, a space at Corrimal Beach Tourist Park will put you 1 hour and 15 minutes north of Jervis Bay, while you’ll also be steps away from the equally stunning waters of the Sea Cliff Bridge and the full length of the Grand Pacific Drive. Or, stay at Batemans Bay Marina Resort on the gorgeous Clyde River waterfront, which allows you a scenic drive north past Milton and Lake Conjola before you reach Hyams Beach.
Hunter Valley
Like trying new foods and the finest wine? The Hunter Valley is home to renowned artisan food and vast vineyards. You’ll have to stay sober for the drive back to Paradise Palms Carey Bay Caravan Park, however!
Kosciuszko National Park
If you like getting active while enjoying nature, take your pick of caving, alpine hiking, skiing and stargazing. You can enjoy all the seasons of Kosciuzko National Park from Talbingo Tourist Park.
