Camper & Tent Trailers

Go anywhere, go that extra distance or discover a new place.

Camper-Tent Trailers come in many different shapes, sizes and styles.  They are easy to tow, easy to set up and suited for rugged-off or on-road road destinations providing the freedom of taking them anywhere you want.

The choice of a camper or tent trailer is often made for the wrong reasons. Older couples may buy a trailer for its easy towing characteristics, but forget that one of the greatest pleasures of the touring caravanner – the ability to pull up at any time of the day for a cup of tea and a cat nap – will be denied them unless they’re prepared to go through the process every time.

For families with young children, however, the camper trailer is one of the world’s greatest inventions. The ability to fit numerous beds into a small towing package, the relatively low cost of the unit compared with that of a full sized caravan, and the trailer’s economy all appeal to the younger buyers who make up a large percentage of the market for this product.

Tent trailers typically comprise of a box trailer, used to store cooking and camping equipment, plus a lift-out tent for sleeping and living space.

The Camper Trailer is a low profile caravan with a wind-up roof and extendable bed sections at either end of the trailer.

Both are compact and popular for off-road use with their light mass and low wind resistance and are easy to tow and are often suitable for smaller tow vehicles.

The units of camper-tent trailers are generally easy to set up and are the most effective way to get into caravanning. However, you will need to consider the size of your family either growing or diminishing to ensure your requirements are matched. Another area to consider prior to purchasing is the ‘living area’ to ensure your holiday is enjoyable.

Considerations

Things to consider

  • Lightweight and flexible
  • Small and compact
  • Easy to tow, manoeuvre and set up
  • Easy to store
  • Most suitable for young families or first time caravanners
  • Limited storage for extended travel
  • Inability to stop whilst travelling for lunch or tea break without setting up

Important

  • The quality of the chassis and the suspension is critical to the longevity of your camper-tent trailer’s life.
  • Ensure the camper-tent trailer is dust and waterproof especially doors and tailgates and the canvas is waterproof and mildew-proofed.
  • Know your Vehicle Towing Mass

Preparing To Buy

Before you set off to the showrooms or dealers, take the time to ask yourself the following questions:

  • Do you want to go off road with camper-tent trailers?
  • How often do you intend to set up and pull down per trip?
  • What feature do you require in camper-tent trailers? Kitchen facilities, awning to provide additional living space, fridge, power etc.
