Entertaining On The Road

Easy steps to make your campsite party friendly on a budget

Whether you are travelling in a caravan, motorhome or camper trailer there is always a reason to socialise and here are a few ideas to help you throw a successful gathering on a budget.

Location

Make as much space as possible for your guests and aim to keep to one area such as the annexe and consider limiting access into your personal space.

Ensure there is ample seating – you may need to ask your guests to bring a chair but seating can be made up of chairs, blankets, cushions etc.

Place the seating, tables, drink and food stations strategically so your guests can move around easily and mingle.

Theming

Keep it simple but little touches such as fresh flowers, tablecloths, napkins and candles can make an impression. Consider using tinsel and paper chains or lanterns.

Music

Use you travelling playlist or create a new one for the occasion. Ensure the music can be heard by guests but not the wider community.

Lighting

Get busy hanging solar lights and consider the surrounding area such as trees to create a party atmosphere. Closer to the entertainment area use LED lights around poles, ropes even on the floor. Good lighting will make is safer for you and your guests.

Food

Keep the food simple and easy to eat. Source from local markets to keep the costs low.

Finger food and nibbles are more appropriate that food that requires plates with a knife and fork. Food like hot dogs, sausage sandwiches, meat and vegetable skewers, wraps and tacos. Consider roasting marshmallows for dessert.

Drink

This can be an expensive undertaking and also difficult to know who drinks what and the amount so consider asking guests to BYO alcohol while you provide bottled water, canned soft drinks, tea and coffee. As most travellers only have a few mugs, glasses etc purchase recyclable cups.

Now you are all set to entertain, make new friends and have fun!
