Checklist for an Emergency Travel Kit

Often, we don’t think about what we need in an emergency situation until we’re in one.

For those unexpected events like a roadside emergency such as a flat tyre you should consider having an Emergency Travel Kit with the following items in your car:

  • Spare tyre (be sure to have it checked each time you have your tyres rotated)
  • Jack
  • Scissors
  • Tool box with screwdrivers and wrenches
  • Car owner’s manual
  • Blanket
  • Small hammer
  • Flares
  • Fuses
  • Sealant for small leaks in tires
  • Duct tape
  • Fire extinguisher
  • Empty petrol can
  • Can of motor oil
  • Flash light with spare batteries
  • First aid kit
  • Bottled water
  • Jumper cables
  • Tyre pressure gauge
  • Paper / Pen or pencil
  • Window scraper for ice (if traveling in cold climates)
  • Reflective vest
  • Portable radio with spare batteries
  • Emergency phone numbers of family and friends
  • Insurance information
  • Car registration
  • Snack food
  • Mobile phone
