Set on the banks of the Galari Bila/Lachlan River in the lush Lachlan Valley Region, Cowra is a charming country town that boasts a unique mix of attractions including wartime history, farm experiences, vineyards, natural attractions and arts and culture.
Home to the largest land-fought military battle on Australian soil during World War Two, explore our key attractions dedicated to the ongoing legacy of peace and reconciliation including the Cowra Japanese Garden & Cultural Centre and Prisoner of War Campsite.
The Cowra Visitor Information Centre is an essential first stop for visitors to the Cowra region and is open 9am – 5pm / 7 days a week every day of the year (except Christmas Day).

Our centre is home to ‘Claire’ the local girl who tells her personal account of the Cowra Breakout through a fascinating hologram presentation. The hologram is a free theatre and continues to be as popular as ever with the 60,000 plus visitors our friendly team welcomes each year.
Our Centre is proud to stock local products from across the region including; olive oils, flavored vinegars, jams, relishes, honey, nuts, figs and spice mixes. We also stock a range of books pertaining to the local area as well as the history of the Wiradjuri People and The Cowra Breakout.
