Great Ocean Road Celebrates 100 Years

The 19 September will mark 100 years since construction began on the iconic Great Ocean Road.

To mark the moment, from the 18 September to 6 October 2019, Great Ocean Road Tourism is embarking on a range of events from Torquay to Apollo Bay.

The Tourism body has worked with filmmakers to uncover ‘The Story of the Road’ which will feature alongside a series of curated events including:

  • Pop-up cinemas
  • Public art installations
  • Augmented reality experiences
  • Gala Screenings of new documentary ‘The Story of the Road’

The event celebrates the Great Ocean Road’s rich history as well as its role today as a global destination for both tourists and locals alike, connecting us with one of the most iconic and beautiful coastlines in Australia and standing as the largest war memorial in the world.
